I am convinced of the gifts that "fire cutters" can have. Personally, I had to call in a fire cutter and I didn't have to regret it.

My daughter, who was 6/7 years old at the time, spilled her bowl of hot chocolate on her thighs as it was still boiling. We were returning from skiing and she was wearing nylon tights which made her burns much worse.
Being at the Thollon ski resort, I took her down to the emergency room at the Évian hospital. She was treated in the operating room. Not having a sterile room in Evian, and given her condition, she was immediately transferred to Thonon hospital, inside a sterile room for 8 days.

It was the hospital that made this decision in view of her condition. Returning to Thollon in the evening, my cousin suggested I call a “fire cutter”. Not believing much in that resource, I didn't follow-up. Yet, she gives me the contact information of a fire cutter who lived in Seytroux, near the Morzine ski resort.

So, I called him. He asks me for some information about my daughter and the circumstances of her accident. He assured me that my daughter wouldn't suffer anymore, that she would get better very fast and that she wouldn't have a scar. The next day, along with my wife, we went to see our daughter at the Thonon hospital. We couldn't approach her as she still was in a sterile room and we could only see her through the glass window.

We ask the nurses how she was, and they reassured us, "She had a good night." Of course we went to see her every day, but it was very stressful and difficult not being able to approach her.

On the 3rd day, as we were visiting her again, her bandages which covered her thighs had come down to her calves. We alerted the nurse who couldn't understand. Immediately, my daughter was taken down to the operating room to check her dressings and surprise, there was almost no trace of burns left on her thighs. The doctor couldn't understand her fast recovery.

We didn't dare to tell him that a “fire cutter” had intervened in the process. This practice was still frowned upon by the medical community. Five days after her accident, we picked up our daughter, who felt significantly better. I wanted to go and see the “fire cutter”, up in Seytroux to thank him. He said this wasn't necessary. Only my daughter's recovery brought him full satisfaction. So I've never seen it, and my daughter has no scars.

So what can I say about these fire-cutting "healers"? Only good things. For a few years now, the Annemasse hospital (next to Geneva) has been calling on “fire cutters” for patients who have been burned, and they have recognized the benefit of their interventions. I am now convinced of these benefits for burnt victims, and if, unfortunately, one day, I had to, I would immediately call on a "fire cutter".
I can't thank them enough!Michel Vittoznoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7229641454273432152.post-54628386587869754222021-12-05T04:01:57.365-07:002021-12-05T04:01:57.365-07:00Thanks for this explanation

We do, however, need to stay out in front of the group. Occasionally we need to overtake a student who has escaped downhill. How to do it?

Base and wax quality aside, there's a way to minimize drag without tucking, at least up to about 25 or 30mph. It works on principles familiar to any bicycle racer. The reason biplanes are obsolete is that every object you drag through the air leaves its own turbulent wake. Monoplanes drag only one set of wings through the air, while biplanes drag two sets plus all the braces and truss wires. As a skier you can become a monoplane: knees together turns the legs from two draggy columns into one (yes, it's a bigger column but its single wake is still less draggy than two separate columns). Same for arms -- hold them close to the body. Poles too create drag, so get them into the slipstream behind your legs. Zip up to keep your parka from ballooning.

When speed becomes serious, of course, you need to break into a normal balanced position that enables a stable carved turn. And -- the right wax is still important, especially this time of year.

Skitrax tells me that my terminal velocity in uniform, without tucking, is about 50mph. It takes a tailwind to go faster. I do believe we were faster when the uniform included stretch pants, but of course I was just younger then.Seth Masiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03057343541367066290noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7229641454273432152.post-87313738977508285922020-07-31T12:04:46.637-06:002020-07-31T12:04:46.637-06:00Thank you for the advice, Teresa!Thank you for the advice, Teresa!Go 11https://www.blogger.com/profile/15973221997645887986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7229641454273432152.post-61897331852315914142020-07-31T04:46:30.494-06:002020-07-31T04:46:30.494-06:00You will not slip if you have enough spike bellow ...You will not slip if you have enough spike bellow your shoe. In addition to the Mayor, former Transportation Planning Manager Kent Cashel and me, the meeting included the head of the Utah Department of Transportation, the head of Utah Transit Authority, along with representatives of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and the Economic Development Corporation of Utah. The meeting was organized by Pinebrook resident Sharon Anderson Morris who is the Director of Future in Review. Sharon has known the Hyperloop HTT team for some time and brought them to Utah for this discussion. In that discussion and later, at a dinner at Sharon’s home with the Chairman and the CFO, I was able to learn that while this is a terrific technology that will be great to implement in our area someday, Park City isn’t a great pilot city for two primary reasons – the first and most important being that we are too close to Salt Lake City. When travelling between Salt Lake and Park City, the Hyperloop would likely not be able to reach its maximum speed before it would need to slow down. The second challenge is that we are not a major population center. And there are other challenges discussed, such as the grade of Parley’s Canyon across the short distance between Park City and Salt Lake.

Now this doesn’t mean we can’t, in the future, be an extension of the project going to Cheyenne or be part of a competitor’s pilot, it simply means that it is less likely that we would be a pilot site. And we do have a couple of advantages that I discussed with Hyperloop HTT’s CFO: Utah’s Department of Transportation is well respected across the nation for getting projects done on time & on budget; in Utah we have a regulatory environment that is generally more flexible than in other states; and all of the people/agencies that would need to be aligned to make this happen in Utah already know one and other.

The company doing the pilot you have referenced is Hyperloop One. I am aware of at least three separate Hyperloop companies working on pilots – and Wikipedia lists six companies working on implementing Elon Musk’s hyperloop vision.

Our Transportation Planning team may have additional information, however if they don’t add to this email string, please know that they are quite focused on implementing new technology available now – in fact, today we got news that Park City was the receipt of a second electric bus grant from the federal government – this is on top of the grant we received for the six electric buses that went into service in June.

Thanks for sending this email to the Mayor and City Council; Park City is a special place because people like you care about keeping it unique and protecting its economic and environmental foundations.Diane Fosternoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7229641454273432152.post-76214105796897892282017-06-07T01:56:26.312-06:002017-06-07T01:56:26.312-06:00It's really great to make me understand Antici...It's really great to make me understand Anticipation !!!

"Conversely, a series of very short radius turn executed on a steep slope will require maximum anticipation, meaning then that the upper body will remain facing the slope while the legs and feet do their respective work underneath......."Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06899405092594233190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7229641454273432152.post-55243787994552476422017-04-10T16:30:46.900-06:002017-04-10T16:30:46.900-06:00According to my friend that worked at K2 designing...According to my friend that worked at K2 designing skis for 10+ years ...
